... for the marvelous aroma of hot mulled wine and honey-roasted almonds to tickle your nose. You can positively smell Chistmas. Who does not have the desire, when frost bites your nose, to join in on the Christmas spirit? And where better than with a glass of hot mulled wine (“Glühwein”) at Speyer’s Christmas Market?
That is why you are all heartily invited to visit Speyer’s Christmas Market, taking place this year from November 23, 2009 – January 6, 2010. The sparkling lights and decorative pine branches of the market will once again this year stimulate Speyer’s anticipation of Christmas.
In the center of the city, in front of the Old Mint, the magic of the Christmas Market awaits you with its numerous stands and surprises. Choirs and other musical groups will again put on their moving seasonal programs. Bengali fire rain will enchant the inner city during “The Old City Gate in Flames”.
On weekends, it has already become tradition that Speyer’s partner cities Spalding, Ravenna, Gniezno, Chartres, Kursk and Yavne as well as the partner district of Impala (Ruanda) present themselves at the Christmas Market.
The children’s bakery and the “Kasper Theater” await the young ones and of course, St Nicholas will be around too.

An Arts and Crafts Market will be held on the first three weekends in Advent at the Cultural Courtyard of the Flachsgasse . Open from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm on Friday to Sunday, it provides a variety of gift ideas. Artists and craftspersons can be observed shaping, grinding, painting and more in the arts and crafts tents.
